SoCal Insta-update

Hey Guys! Sorry I took a short break, but i'm back!! I am in LA right now on a much needed vacation. LA is my happy place and I am so glad to be back in the 80 degrees and sun!!!! After only being here a day, I remember why I love this place so much. The style is effortless and relaxed and you can wear shorts, a dress or jeans and still fit in. Whats better?! Btw I drove past the hollywood sign today and felt like a superstar. ;) Cali makes all dreams come true, right?? Stay updated on my latest activities on instagram and twitter @splashofbrunette / @splashbrunette A ton of fun stuff happening in the next few days!!!!

Sweater Weather

It's finally sweater weather... not sure if that's good or bad. I'm mentally preparing for a horrible winter, still reminiscing of the amazing, hot summer sun. This year is all about being comfortable and still being on trend. Junior year is rough and college visits are starting soon... wish me luck! Comfy and cute!

Uniform

If you haven't noticed, except during the summer, I only wear black and blue. I decided this year I will be adding a lot of neutrals to make my look a little more cheerful during the cold winter. Thanks to my favorite Matisse boots, my look is brighter and transition appropriate. This outfit is super comfy and easy. I am not typically a dress wear-er, however this summer i began loving the easiness of a dress. Tip: Try adding neutrals with your casual dresses.

Good Vibes

Fall is coming quickly... As a little transition I am wearing a maxi skirt with a cute tank c/o Ten Sixty Sherman and my fav fall booties. Check them out for the cutest tops! I love this one, and it sums up my summer. Good Vibes. I am so thankful for such an amazing 2 months and I am hoping for a great year (or as good as the year can be). I had so much fun and now that I am OFFICIALLY 16 have so much to look forward to. Watch out cause i'm drivinggggggggg!!!! ;)

Transition time

Fashion Week is officially underway!! I am sadly not there, but there is always next year... My look is a transition from hot summer days to cooler fall days. I am wearing a favorite and super easy outfit from Brandy Melville. The clothes are great and really stylish and easy. Also, I wanted to do a little tribute to Joan Rivers. I honestly cannot believe she is gone. I have watched her show, Fashion Police, ever week and LOVE it. She was incredibly talented and hilarious and I completely admire her ability to say what everyone else was thinking. Thank you Joan for so many laughs. xx

Bye, Summer

Crying to the thought that school starts tomorrow... I remember my first day in Barcelona like it was yesterday. This summer felt so short, yet a great one. I had the best experiences and couldn't have asked for a better 2 months. I honestly cannot believe I am a junior. How about I skip this year and try again next september?? Junior year will be strenuous to say the least, but hopefully rewarding... Anyways, my summer uniform was a casual tank and jean shorts and I adopted a hat this year. I never really liked wearing hats, however I wore hats sooo much this summer and I kind of love it. I did a little collab with Miusig NY and fell in love with this cap. Preaching happiness for this year...

MAXImize Summer

Everyone knows shorter girls cannot pull of a great maxi (most of the time). However, I have found a simple solution to still rock the maxi. The Maxi Skirt. Basically, the best thing to ever happen for shorter people. Mine is from Urban Outfitters and it is fun and summery. I never could imagine myself pulling of a maxi, but I think I got it!!! Oh, and my favorite new shirt (i have been wearing it a lot recently), is this tank. Love!! Keeping it crazy and simple. Hmmmm....

Oops!

Hi! So this outfit went with me on an interesting journey. I started out in Union Square and went to TriBeCa for the first time ever to try aqua spinning. If you don't know what that is, its spinning in a pool. MIND BLOWN. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done. I highly recommend it and I will definitely be back soon... Post aqua spinning, my friend and I decided to walk to SoHo. We ended up going in the completely wrong direction and ending up in the Financial District and Wall Street. A little side note, I am a huge econ person, so being on Wall Street was the most amazing thing. Yes, I know, i'm such a tourist.

What I Wore
Pull and Bear (awesome find in Spain) - tank
Free People- shorts
Longchamp- bag

Parsons - recap

Hi everyone!! I promise i didn't abandone you!! I went away for a few weeks to Spain (recap coming soon), however today I want to discuss my insane two-week fashion design course at Parsons. Just being able to walk into the Parsons building everyday was the coolest thing ever and made so many of my dreams come true. The first day I had flashbacks to the 7 years of religiously watching project runway, while most people my age were doing the same for spongebob. (no hate for spongebob ;)) I designed my own collection, learned how to sew, and made a dress. All these things I had never done. It was truly an amazing two weeks and I impressed myself with my designs. I have learned so much from Parsons and hope I have the possibility of going there for actual college. I love it there and recommend it to anyone considering the class.

highlight #1: going to mood 1 hour after tim gunn

highlight #2: chasing Seth Meyers down 5 blocks to get a pic before being yelled at by his bodyguard to "stop fangirling", oops!!

xoxo

Today I went to the Upper East Side and went to central park (haven't been there in a while). Had an epic gelato fail. Wind and cones do not mix... I got this dress yesterday at Brandy Melville and it was perfect because I really needed a casual dress to go with my new Man Repeller x Superga sneakers. Mixing sneaks and dresses are a big summer yes! p.s. I highly recommend reading Man Repeller's book, its hilarious and just overall a fun read! I couldn't put it down!

Cold Shoulder

An outfit can make or break a day. IN LOVE with this awesome find from Free People (the shirt) and also the shorts, coincidentally from Free People. I have never tried a one shoulder shirt before, and I think i definitely need to get some more. Walking around Soho today was amazing and the weather was beyond perfect. Also, I got a Mister Softee, which I hadn't had in forever and my friend introduced to me Café Aroma - a must go for coffee. Dinner at Mercer Kitchen, a new favorite of mine. Summer in the city is beyond perfect. :) So sad to be leaving in a few days, but I'm going to Europe, so I really can't complain!! Stay tuned for some awesome pics of all my adventures...
